Artists in the Cloisters

By Louise Irvine

Over the years, WMODA has presented the work of many talented artists in our community. They have been stars of our Artist Showcase events and their art has been sold in our museum shop. We have missed them all while we have been relocating WMODA and it won’t be long now until they are back in the museum. In the meantime, see what Laurence Panadero and Lloyd Goradesky have been doing at The Ancient Spanish Monastery. Join them at the Artists in the Cloisters event on September 7.

Artists in the Cloisters

Laurence Panadero’s modeling demonstrations and workshops are always well received at WMODA. Visitors enjoyed watching her mermaid sculpture emerging from clay, and participating in her mask-making class. Laurence’s art classes for children drew lots of inspiration from the museum collection and she continues to share her great talent with others. Last year, she founded the Mission of Light in partnership with The Ancient Spanish Monastery Foundation and her large-scale sculptures of the Guardians of the Earth were exhibited there during Miami Art Week. Laurence will be showing some of her latest work at the monastery in Miami on Thursday, September 7.

Let LOVE Guide Your Way

Lloyd Goradesky will also be exhibiting at the Ancient Spanish Monastery on September 7 with new work from his Let LOVE Guide Your Way art project. Lloyd’s landmark kinetic sculpture celebrating kindness has put Dania Beach on the public art map and he is now designing furniture with his iconic heart motif. We visited his Miami workshop recently to see two of his monumental commissions in progress and we look forward to showcasing his new designs when WMODA reopens. Lloyd continues to spread his message of love and kindness at speaking engagements and teaching courses including his popular digital photography classes which he launched at WMODA.
