Born and raised in Kansas, Sheryl is a self-taught artist inspired by her grandmothers. Both were accomplished needleworkers who participated in sewing circles, sharing their skills and traditions with family and friends. Encouraged by their example, Sheryl taught herself to sew, knit, quilt, and embroider. She also explored ceramics, clothing design, and decorative paper crafts, developing a lifelong passion for handmade artistry.
Her distinctive greeting cards began with a treasured discovery in her grandmother’s cedar chest: a box of beautiful Christmas cards dating from the 1940s. Captivated by their nostalgic illustrations and sentimental charm, Sheryl could not bear to discard them. Instead, she imagined giving these forgotten treasures a new life.
She began collecting vintage greeting cards from antique stores and thrift shops, carefully cutting and layering their illustrations to create delightful three-dimensional compositions. Her imaginative designs capture the warmth, whimsy, and wonder of seasons past, transforming traditional holiday greetings into keepsakes to treasure.
Sheryl expanded her collection to include cards celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. Her easel cards in the form of tiered cakes are very popular and she has recently introduced cute cards in the shape of purses and shoes. Sheryl sells her handcrafted creations at craft shows, stationery stores, and gift shops throughout the United States, and her cards have become best-sellers in the WMODA Museum Shop.
