11:00 am – Splash into WMODA – Louise Irvine
See how the world’s leading glass artists have been inspired by the ocean, including Dale Chihuly’s abstract Seaforms and Lino Tagliapietra’s dinosaurs from the depths of the Venetian lagoon. Enjoy work by local artists sharing how they envision Florida’s underwater tropical paradise with glass jellyfish, turtles, shells and corals.
Plunge into our pottery collection to discover how Roger Cockram, marine biologist turned potter, is fascinated by the colors, reflections and textures of water. Experience the Ardmore Studio from South Africa, awash with whimsical underwater creatures that combine fantasy and fun, such as Zulu whale and shark riders.
12:00 pm – The Velvet Lagoon – Anna Paola Cibin
Float along the Venetian lagoon with Anna Paola Cibin from Venice and learn about her traditional working practice, creating mesmerizing paintings featuring shoals of fish on silk velvet. Hear how her Joyful Fish first leapt out of the water when there was no more room in the Venetian lagoon!
