Suzanne Barton, the acclaimed underwater fine art photographer, exhibited regularly at our Dania Beach museum, and WMODA visitors will remember her Mythical Maidens and Wonderland series with Chelsea Rousso. We’re thrilled to welcome her back for our Last Splash event on Sunday, September 27, where she will be showing some of her latest fine art photographs of ethereal, graceful women dancing beneath the waves.
As a Florida-based artist, Suzanne is deeply passionate about using her creative vision to bring attention to the urgent environmental challenges facing our oceans. She meticulously crafts each frame to evoke breathless wonder at the marvels of the marine environment. The flowing fabric, lithe forms, and radiant light conjure a dreamlike realm where time seems to slow.
Her underwater photography captures the haunting beauty of Florida’s marine ecosystems while highlighting the imminent threats they face. These issues not only endanger our precious marine life but also pose significant risks to Florida’s economy, which relies heavily on our pristine coastal environments to attract visitors. Suzanne aims to create a powerful series of underwater images as a wake-up call, hoping to evoke a visceral response and inspire action.
In Suzanne’s words, “My artistic mission is to induce the rejuvenating ‘blue mind’ effect by transporting viewers into the tranquil depths through my images. I believe immersing oneself in these serene aquatic visions can be transformative. My art invites the viewer to get lost in the hypnotic dance between human and water.
While my underwater imagery holds undeniable artistic merit, I also strive to leverage my work as a catalyst for positive change. Water is the source of all life on our planet, a powerful healing force that soothes the mind and soul. These tranquil yet powerful scenes have the power to inspire awe, spark conversations, and forge a deeper connection to our planet’s vital aquatic ecosystems and their preservation.”

Suzanne exhibits her award-winning work widely in juried exhibitions, galleries, and in the International Art Collection on board the Harmony of the Seas cruise ship. She also shares her time and talents with many charitable causes. Proceeds from Suzanne’s work have gone toward bringing clean drinking water to underserved areas, supporting healing centers that harness water’s therapeutic properties, and supporting our oceanic centers.
