Your enthusiasm ensures that the magnificent stories of our Fired Arts masterpieces remain accessible and burning bright for our community. As a special thank you, we are thrilled to invite you to an exclusive celebration.
On July 26, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., WMODA will host An Afternoon Affair… I Am an American! presented by the Generation Venetian Arts Society (GENVAS) and sponsored by Lion & Unicorn. This gathering is far more than a concert; it is a deeply personal affirmation of America’s enduring promise, celebrating the ways our evolving national identity is continually enriched by the artistry, struggles, and traditions of many peoples woven together.
The Rhythm of Freedom:
Jose Angel Navarro & The Angel Trio
After time for a stroll through the galleries, notably our American Studio Glass collection, the heart of the afternoon is a special salon-style musical performance featuring internationally celebrated classical guitarist Jose Angel Navarro and The Angel Trio. Navarro, who emigrated from Cuba and became a United States citizen twenty years ago, proudly describes himself as: “I am an American.”
His distinctive Afro-Cuban-American musical language is a breathtaking blend of ceremonial rhythms and folk traditions, jazz and classical influences, improvisation, and contemporary expression. Joining Navarro are internationally acclaimed percussionist and vocalist Joel Hernandez Roque and renowned bassist Cristobal Verdecia. Together, their artistry in Son, Salsa, Latin Jazz, and fusion traditions perfectly reflects the living spirit of multicultural America.
An Afternoon Affair… I Am An American! serves as both celebration and reflection, a beautiful reminder that America’s greatest masterpiece has always been its people and the enduring power of the arts to inspire unity. We hope to see you there!
