Chelsea in Wonderland

Alice and her Wonderland friends will “Walk the Runway” later this month at Art Serve’s summer exhibition celebrating South Florida’s fashion scene. Chelsea Rousso is heading back through the looking glass to create a fabulous installation inspired by her Believe the Impossible runway shows at WMODA. Chelsea has a novel approach to fashion, designing wearable glass bikinis, corsets, and accessories. Some of her original Wonderland costumes are currently on display in the museum’s Studio Collection and will be going on their next adventure soon.

The Walk the Runway exhibition in the Art Serve Art Gallery in Fort Lauderdale will run from July 21 to September 19.  Chelsea will be creating a whimsical, immersive installation that transforms a gallery at Art Serve into a fantastical world where fashion, glass art, and storytelling collide. Featuring life-sized fused glass costumes inspired by characters from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the experience invites viewers to step into the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and become part of the scene. Guests can sit at the tea table, interact with the space, and experience the magic of wearable glass art in a surreal, storybook setting.

In the fall, Chelsea will begin preparing for the Glass Fashion Show in Corning, presented by Laura Donefer as a highlight of the Glass Art Society conference in June. Some of the original models from the WMODA fashion show will be joining Chelsea for the GAS event and it looks as if the two rival Queens of Hearts will vie with each other again!
