It was Fantastique

We had a Fantastique event at WMODA on Saturday, October 27! A Bacchanalian god, goddess and beautiful nymphs mingled with spooky witches and a big cat! Many of the visiting artists, volunteers and staff were in costume for the occasion which added a lot of fun to our fantasy theme.

There was a steady stream of visitors throughout the day for our first Saturday opening of the season. At least 200 guests, many of them first time visitors, enjoyed our program of artist demonstrations, museum tours, and Halloween revels. Everybody was captivated by the ‘Enchanted World of Ceramic Art’ curated by Louise Irvine for our new Fantastique exhibit. They were spellbound also by our new Fairyland video produced by Tom Joule, which is now on view in Fantastique.

During the day, there were demonstrations of Venetian mask-making by Matteo Montagner from Balocoloc Artisans and Chelsea Rousso’s glass art. Chelsea’s Wine Down Friday workshop was in our Hot Glass gallery Friday, November 2nd. Kimberly Sheridan took visitors on tours of the permanent collections at WMODA and business was brisk at our museum boutique.

A special thank-you to our youngest volunteer Alisa, a High school student who has already given 370 hours of community service to WMODA, and to Helna our oldest volunteer who is 89 years young!
